Frequently Asked Questions and troubleshooting tips - Fitness Clocks

Question: Can any of your clocks be used outdoors?
Answer: We have tested our aluminum-faced (blue) clock (with glass lens), outdoors at ambient temperatures of 38 to 90 degrees farenheit and 20 to 90% humidity. Please note that a clock used outdoors must be protected from direct rain.

Question: Can I paint any or all of the clock hands?
Answer: Yes, the second hand may be carefully painted without removing it. Use very gentle brush strokes. Contact us for verbal tips regarding this procedure.

Note that we strongly recommend against removing any hands, since reassembly requires special tools.

Question: Should I use an alkaline or a lithium battery?
Answer: Either one will work but keep in mind that an exhausted (dead) alkaline battery can leak and damage the battery holder's metal contact tabs. Lithium batteries almost never leak. We include a lithium battery with every new Fitness Clock.

Troubleshooting tips:
Second hand stops moving: When this happens, most likely the cause is a dead battery. However, if the battery is less than 1 year old, remove the clock from the wall, remove the battery, and turn the movement's serrated wheel (back of clock) so that the minute hand is rotating clockwise. With the clock turned sideways, note any interference between any of the hands. You may hear a clicking noise at the interference points. If you do see and/or hear interference, you may need to bend the minute hand or tilt the hour hand. After each adjustment, rotate the minute hand again by rotating the movement wheel.
Note: Never rotate the hands with your finger(s) on the hands themselves. Always use the movement wheel at the back of the clock body.
Replace the battery. If the second hand does not move, replace the battery with a new AA alkaline or lithium battery.

If no interference is detected, replace the battery with a new high-quality alkaline or lithium battery and when the second hand is aligned with the "12" remove the battery and set the time, one minute ahread of the current time. Replace the battery when the time displayed on your reference source (watch, cell phone, or computer) changes to the time you set on the clock.
